I don't want to discuss how the refs gave the Knicks absolutely no calls during game 1 and game 2. I don't want to discuss that if Chauncey Billups didn't get hurt in the final minute of game 1 that the Knicks might be up 2-0 right now. I don't want to discuss how Jermaine O'Neal can put his finger in Bill Walker's face and there is no technical. I don't want to discuss that if Amar'e Stoudemire doesn't get back spasms this series is tied 1-1. I don't want to discuss that Mike D'Antoni is getting schooled by Doc Rivers. I don't want to discuss how Paul Pierce flops and Kevin Garnett is a dirty old man. I don't want to discuss any of this it hurts to much but I can not help it.
In two of the most frustrating playoff loses you can ever have the Knicks find themselves in an almost impossible 2-0 hole. There was only so much the Knicks' lone healthy star could do as Carmelo Anthony went for 42 points, 17 rebounds, 6 assists, 2 blocks, 1 turnover and 10-11 from the line...anybody still crying for Danilo Galinari, Wilson Chandler or Timofey Mozgov? I didn't think so...
My unbiased opinion would lead me to believe that this series is over like Keanu Reeves' career. However, my inner Knick blood is still a little optimistic about coming home for games 3 and 4.
I am optimistic about the Knicks still for two reasons:
1. Chauncey Billups and Amar'e Stoudemire are (most likely) coming back for games 3 and 4. If the Knicks can go to the buzzer in games 1 & 2 shorthanded then games 3 and 4 are very winnable with those guys.
2. The Celtics look old, small and beatable. The only reasons why the Celtics are up 2-0 is because of their coach, the refs and Garnett tripping Toney Douglas....not because they are the better team.
One thing is for sure Knick fans who are going to these next two games better be as loud as hell and you better be all over the refs....it is going to be rocking at the real Garden on Friday and Sunday.
Honestly, I forgot what it felt like for the Knicks to blow playoff games they should have won...I'm getting childhood flashbacks right now to a Patrick Ewing missed finger roll, or to PJ Brown throwing Charlie Ward into the stands, etc.
The Knicks just better not get swept....that's for damn sure.
Here are the highlights....
